The Goo Goo Dolls are an American rock band formed in Buffalo, New York, in 1986. The band's main members are lead vocalist and guitarist John Rzeznik and bassist and vocalist Robby Takac. Initially a cover band, they transitioned to a punk rock sound before achieving mainstream success with their 1995 single, "Name". They are most famous for their 1998 hit, "Iris," which was on the Billboard Hot 100 for 11 months and topped the Hot 100 Airplay chart for 18 weeks. Billboard later named "Iris" the #1 Top 40 Pop Song of the Last 20 Years.
