Current Problems

About

Current Problems is working to expand their impact in rural counties in the Suwannee Basin whose water resources are highly impacted by discarded waste, including abandoned vessels, tires, and appliances, by investing in a fleet of 3 trash transportation boats to increase the capacity of their work in the area. To this day, over 20,000 volunteers serving their communities from Southern Georgia to the gulf coast have worked to remove waste from waterways. Collaborating with the cities and counties in the surrounding area, Current Problems catalog and assess site locations of discarded waste harmful to our water resources. They organize groups of volunteers local to the rivers, lakes, and streams of North Central Florida to complete watershed cleanups often involving large debris waste removal, fully equip and lead the cleanups, and coordinate proper disposal and removal of waste. Their supporting programming includes native shoreline plantings, invasive plant species removal, and water quality outreach and education programs.
