Kerry’s Rockin’ Weekend at Fenway Park with Hootie & The Blowfish

Kerry’s Rockin’ Weekend at Fenway Park with Hootie & The Blowfish
Introduction
Ever dreamed of spending a rockstar-caliber weekend with Hootie & The Blowfish? Kerry from Gig Harbor, WA, got to live this dream by supporting the Hootie & The Blowfish Foundation. By donating, she won an incredible opportunity: a personalized weekend in Boston, MA, with the legendary band. Here’s her unforgettable experience.
The Announcement
How did you feel when you found out you won the trip to meet Hootie & The Blowfish at Fenway Park?
It was surreal. I was in the middle of putting my house up for sale – long days, lots of stress. When I got the email saying I won, it took me to the moon and back! I’ve been a huge fan of Hootie & The Blowfish for years, but never had the chance to see them live. This was so well-timed and the first prize I’ve ever won!
Supporting the Cause
What motivated you to support the Hootie & The Blowfish Foundation?
I strongly believe in lifting up our youth in education, sports, and music. The Foundation’s events, especially “Hootie’s Homegrown Roundup,” are fantastic ways to support deserving children. Their commitment over almost 25 years shows how awesome these guys are.
Soundcheck Experience
Can you share your experience of joining the band for soundcheck and either singing backup or playing the tambourine?
Gary showed me how to play the tambourine, and I got to give Darius Rucker a four-page letter about why I think he’s extraordinary. He read my letter and gave me a huge, genuine hug. It was such a sweet moment – I felt like a queen for a day!
Backstage Tour and Pre-Show Toast
How was the backstage tour and pre-show toast with the band?
Lee gave a wonderful backstage tour, showing how the LED screen was assembled and the sheer amount of equipment involved. The team felt like a family with a fun vibe. Jessica took great care of me, and the pre-show toast was thrilling. Seeing Dax and hearing the Barenaked Ladies toast Hootie & The Blowfish was an honor.
The Concert
What was the atmosphere like at the concert, and how were your seats?
Despite a torrential downpour, the atmosphere was electric. Fans shared Hootie concert stories and helped each other with rain ponchos. I met a couple who skipped their honeymoon to afford the concert! My seats were in the fifth row – the best I’ve ever had. It was an amazing treat to see the band up close.
Boston and Hotel Stay
How did you enjoy your travel to Boston and your hotel stay?
Seeing fans line up for the Celtics win parade and riding a packed subway to Fenway Park was such a fun experience. I loved exploring the historic park and took tons of pictures. Staying at The Boxer was fantastic, and I enjoyed walking around Boston. Brunch at Eataly was a highlight!
The Impact
How has this experience impacted you, and do you plan to continue supporting similar charities?
This magical experience reinforced my love for fundraising for organizations that grant wishes. I’m a huge fan of Fandiem and their charitable opportunities. I’ve shared my story, and people are excited about my idea to turn this adventure into a book. I’m beyond grateful and will continue to support Fandiem. Who knows who I might meet next?
Conclusion
Kerry’s weekend with Hootie & The Blowfish was a dream come true, thanks to her support of their charitable foundation. Her story is a testament to the magic of giving back and the unforgettable experiences it can create.
